Money Mindset for Teens

Arrow

Introduction

The first steps of Financial Literacy are important to teach adolescents along with the skills needed to manage finances and learn to be self-sufficient in the future. This series of podcasts will provide schools, parents, and students with the necessary information to assist in building a better understanding regarding money management.

The ten podcasts will engage listeners with the hopes of building a strong foundation for financial literacy. Each episode covers prevalent topics throughout the well renowned book Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. The topics discussed are suitable for students of all ages, but specifically target middle school and highschool students.

Arrow

Listeners will benefit as they will become well versed in topics many children their age have not yet been exposed to. This will provide an opportunity for advanced thinking and critical discussions surrounding finances.

Objective

Financial literacy is often something obtained too late in life. In today's society over 60% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck drowned in debt with no assets. This program provides an opportunity to influence the next generation to take responsibility and ownership of their own financial future starting from an early age.

Podcasts

Students should listen to one podcast per meeting, then play the cashflow game with a friend, teacher, or parent. Taking notes is encouraged, but not required. Listening in groups is encouraged to facilitate discussions and should ideally consist of 2 or more learners.

Meet the Founder

I am currently a rising senior who attends The Kent School in Kent, Connecticut. I grew up in New York City and for high school chose to attend boarding school as I wanted to better prepare for college, gain a sense of independence and facilitate advanced academic experiences. My keen interest in the topics I cover in this program derive from my profound love for economics. This began during my sophomore year in my first economics class. However, in hindsight the topics covered in my economics classes are mostly unrelated to those I delve into in my series. I acknowledge it as the fuse that ignited my journey. I made this series in hopes of replicating that first stepping stone into a somewhat undiscovered world for adolescents.
